How Strong Writing Is Judged
1. Task Response:
Did you answer the actual prompt clearly and completely?
2. Organization:
Are your ideas in a logical order, with clear links between them?
3. Vocabulary:
Did you choose words that fit the purpose and tone of the task?
4. Grammar:
Are your sentences accurate, varied, and easy to understand?
Beginner Writing Modules
Informal Letter
Practice friendly openings, emotional reactions, clear main points, and natural closings.
Formal Letter
Focus on respectful greetings, stating your purpose quickly, professional tone, and formal sign-offs.
Essay
Build strong essays by paraphrasing the topic, stating your opinion, developing reasons, and finishing with a clear conclusion.
Quick Strategy Reminders
- Stay on task: Every sentence should help answer the prompt.
- Use a visible structure: Open clearly, develop ideas in the middle, and end with purpose.
- Support ideas: Add a reason, detail, or example instead of leaving points too general.
- Revise one thing: Before submitting, improve one sentence for clarity, vocabulary, or grammar.
